Tell-Tale Signs of Nursing Home Abuse

Indicators that Your Loved One is Neglected or AbusedWhether your mom is elderly and you've had to put her in a nursing home or your dad has been injured and now needs constant care, it's a very difficult and emotional time when you decide on nursing home care. Not only do you miss your loved one but you worry about him or her as well.
?Although most nursing homes are reputable, and hire care takers with good reputations, there are also some that aren't so commendable. You can do all the research you want on a particular home but that doesn't mean your loved one will always get perfect care. It's a sad but true fact that some health care workers - just like some people out in the rest of the world - are abusers. These people can seem friendly and helpful then can abuse someone while no one is the wiser. Whether the abuse is happening to a child up the street from you, or to your own parents at a nursing home, it's wrong. It's often hard, though, to identify and catch an abuser. In the nursing home situation many of the patients are weak, fragile or can't even speak. This makes it even more difficult to discover the situation.Physical abuse isn't the only type of pain that an abuser dishes out. Abusers aren't always men, either. People who abuse others can come in any shape, size or from any ethnic background. They can abuse someone physically, by neglect or even verbally. It can be very frightening for a patient who can't even tell others what is going on. If you look for the signs, though, you could possibly prevent the abuser from ever working in the field again. It can sometimes be quite a challenge catching a physical abuser. Often, they'll hit, punch or kick in areas of the body that most people wouldn't notice. For example, they might punch someone in the stomach rather than hit them in the face. The stomach injury could be left undiagnosed but a bloody nose will get noticed. They're more likely to kick someone in the buttocks rather than in the head, which might cause a noticeable lump.Tell-Tale Signs of Nursing Home AbuseOriginally from: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2103071/telltale_signs_of_nursing_home_abuse.html
