Is it okay to nurse a baby after the age of one year?

My little girl is 12 months old. She always took formula but i've nursed too. I've slowly gotten her off formula, and on a pretty well balanced diet. Breast milk is def. not a source of nutrition for her at this age it's just something that's in our schedule. I don't mind for now but i'm not going to be one of those mothers with a small child at her breast all the time. So is she too old to be nursing? If so how do I go about weaning her?
