How to keep my mother from going into a nursing home?

My mom jst had a mild stroke, with high blood pressure, and found out that she is a diabtic. my question is this... i am the eldest child out of 3 other siblings. they want to put our mother into a nnursing home because of her health. Our father is alive and I am afraid that my siblings will try to take advantage of my father & mother's assets. how do I make sure that they do not take the advantage of my dad & mom's assets and how do I keep them from putting her into a nursing home?
