Nursing is a highly regarded profession with high standards of honesty and ethics amongst various other professions. Nursing has emerged as the largest health care occupation with over 2.7 million jobs.
Addiction Nurses provide care to patients who seek help with alcohol, drug, and marijuana addictions. They help out the patient get over their dependency on the different substances they are addicted to. Developmental Disabilities Nurses help physically and mentally disabled patients with feeding. They are assist the patients in controlling bodily functions, and to sit stand with the least assistance.
For nurses working in home health settings - which include 'managed care' nursing home settings - those numbers are even higher - well above 250% increase in nurses needed at every level of licensing. Nursing is not confined in the hospitals at all.
It helps greatly to have experience in your field because if you do become a travel nurse you can be placed in a new hospital or facility and work in your specialized field immediately.
While long hours and the physical demands of the job may scare some people off, many others are attracted to the flexibility, the fast paced environment, and the ability to help others. For those concerned about the rigors of a nursing career, there are many positions available in private doctor's offices, public schools, and other lower stress environments.
Job prospects for licensed practical nurses, or LPNs, while positive, are not as strong as those of registered nurses. Licensed practical nurses will continue to be in demand, particular in hospital and long term care facilities.
Other classes provide little to no interaction between yourself and other students. You will check a class message board for assignments and receive your grades in an email and have little interaction with anything other than the text book.
Role autonomy and independence, innovativeness, technical knowledge, and teamwork are characteristics of this job, in addition to personal satisfaction and professional rewards.
