But today, she will visit there as an expert on public policy - the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing associate professor and associate dean has been invited with three other national health officials to discuss health care reform with President Barack Obama.

Dr. Albrecht, president of the Association of Women's Health Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing, is ecstatic that the president is concerned about women's health and related issues and is honored that her views have been courted. But as a veteran of making the rounds of Capitol Hill to discuss the issue, she is well aware that oftentimes promised meetings with elected officials become sessions with aides only.
Whether or not she meets Mr. Obama face to face, Dr. Albrecht said she will push for health care reforms that would provide "mammograms without cost, birth control perhaps with minimal cost, fertility counseling, those things that might be feasible to improve health care to women, infants."
Others invited to today's session include Katherine Massey, of the White House Office of Health Reform; Richard Waldman, president of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; and Holly Powell Kennedy, president of the Association of Certified Nurse Midwives.
She said she is "very impressed" with Mr. Obama's health care reform, noting that although some oppose it, "something had to change. It wasn't workable the way it was. [The reform] is not perfect and it's not here yet, but he's meeting with health care professionals that represent national groups to try to make it work."
Dr. Albrecht said she hoped that would mean "everyone has access to being healthy. That's probably my Utopian goal and is not totally realistic, but we're moving closer to that than not."
As for the possibility of meeting Mr. Obama in person, Dr. Albrecht said "it would probably be one of the more exciting things in my professional career. I'd be thrilled to have an audience with him."
