Songs To Put On In Order To Put You In The Zone

When it comes to listening to music while working, you cannot just listen to anything. Depending on the type of work you do, it may require a lot of focus, and therefore music with lyrics is not always ideal. Classical music is nice, but sometimes you need something that will keep you more awake.

These are some bands that I have been listening to recently that have helped get me in the zone.

If you are looking for a great band with continuous instrumental music, check out Artifacts from Sound Tribe Sector 9. Their music combines tribal influence with electronic beats.

If you are looking for an upbeat album to do work to, Antidotes by Foals is a great listen. The guitarist uses a multitude of effects to create some intense sounds that get you going.

Another great upbeat record I have been listening to recently is "Dear Science," by TV On The Radio. This is also one of my favorite albums of the year 2008, so it very well may be that I am biased with this one.

Forgiveness Rock Record, by the Broken Social Scene has recently jumped up my playlist. Towards the end of the day, when you just need some "white noise" and are no longer looking to be kept awake by your music, give the Broken Social Scene album a listen.

The new Drake album is surprisingly enjoyable to work to. It is on the more laid back side and not what I expected at all from this popular artist's debut record. There is unexpectedly more singing than rapping in this album and Drake makes it work.

Another great album that I have been listening to while I work is Welcome To Mali by Amadou and Miriam. Based out of Africa, Amadou and Miriam churn out African influenced music and while there are lyrics involved, they are mostly in Swahili, so you can not even tell what they are saying, but it is very enjoyable to work to.

See various other works written by this very writer regarding subject matters such as futons on sale and the Simmons futon.
