Nursing Degree - BSN or MSN?

Nursing Degree - BSN or MSN?
Thursday April 15, 2010
Which nursing degree is best for you?  Only you can determine the answer to that question.  So how do you figure out which degree would be the best option for you to pursue - a degree that will allow you to obtain the nursing career you want, while not breaking the bank either.

The three most common nursing degrees are:

Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Prospective nurses often have a difficult time deciding among degrees, and readers often send me emails asking me for assistance deciding between an ADN and BSN, or help deciding upon a BSN or MSN.

When in doubt, the higher level of education you obtain will ultimately increase your career options.  However, that is not always possible for all, or necessary, depending on your financial situation and career needs. There are so many different nursing careers in demand, at a variety of education levels.
