Do you need insurance or anything to work for yourself as a Certified nursing assistant or home health aide?

I would like to start working independently as a certified nursing assistant. I work through an agency and I would like to find clients of my own and work as an independent contractor so to speak. I don't know if I need to be insured or bonded or anything like that?
