When should a senior be put in a nursing home?

I have been working with seniors since I was 18 and I want to know when should a senior be made to go to a nursing home? I have been caring for a nice gentleman for 4 years now he just turned 95 on his last birthday,his oldest son wants to have him put in a home but his other 2 sons said as long as I was willing to take care of him they want him home. Please help me.
