Is there any hope now?

I keep reading horrible things a lot of the time, but most, aside from terrorist acts, it has to do with domestic violence, and the everyday career criminal. But things like this, make me feel there's no turning back. There's no hope any more:

Thank you to all the ones which have read my question and decided it important enough to answer!!!! It makes me feel that we are not so lost yet. But unfortunately, and according to the BIBLE, there'll be worse events still to come...BOSSDAVE, I'll look up the quote you wrote, and would have appreciated you tell me what you think it means. I haven't read the BIBLE in a long time!
