Should I go the comm. college route or private programs route to get my Nursing Degree?

I mapped out my pre requisites for getting into a community college nursing program with a counselor today and in reality it might take me up to six years for my associates degree! Two years pre-reqs, two years wait-list, and two years actual program. Whatr should I do...I want to work sooner.
