As I've mentioned in the past, keeping up with healthcare industry news is important for medical professionals, especially when you're in job hunting mode. The internet has made this industry news so much more easily accessible, as there is now a world of information virtually at your fingertips.
However, the volume of information online can be overwhelming, and trying to determine the validity and quality of the content can be a daunting task! Therefore, here are a few "best of" and "Top Blogs" lists you can peruse to help you find some great sources of industry related information, in addition, of course, to About.com Health Careers!
A pair of Top 100 blog lists I like are below. I like these lists because they are comprehensive, and the algorithm for the ranking and scoring is transparently explained, and makes sense. In other words, the rankings are not just based upon one blogger's opinion, but on a multitude of factors. These factors include volume of readership, subscribers, and links to the sites, plus several other scoring mechanisms. Plus, the algorithm updates weekly, so the list is always current, any time you refer to it. Top 100 Healthcare Blogs
Top 100 Career Blogs
I recently was informed of a list of Top 50 Medical Career Blogs that is well-organized by the type of medical career targeted (e.g. nurses, physicians, or all-inclusive.)
For purposes of full disclosure, this site, About.com Health Careers, is on all of these lists, as are most of the other sites I read on a regular basis. The sites on these lists are highly regarded for their quality of useful, valid information. You will probably find that you already read many of the sites listed, but you may find a few new ones to follow too.
Additionally, you may also find one other new healthcare website useful; it is sort of like an "Alltop" for the medical industry. The site is called MedBuzz.com, and it includes links to feeds from a comprehensive cross-section of all aspects of the healthcare industry, divided up by medical specialty, and niche within the health field.
You should now be sufficiently plugged in to the healthcare industry and have your finger on the proverbial pulse of the medical field!Top Medical and Career BlogsSource: www.about.com
